5 more days until St. George 70.3

WOW! Only 5 more days until the St. George 70.3 Ironman. It is hard to believe it’s been a year!

A year ago, I thought this year’s race would be different, like some how I would magically turn into Meradith Kessler and go PRO. hahaha! Life happens. First, I was totally burned out last fall. I was tired and just done with triathlons in general. By the time my attitude came back, I feel like I’ve been playing catch up. This really is a lifestyle and I finally get that. Before I was just moving from race to race, this year I have really fallen in love with the sport of triathlon. Second, my awesome new job impacted my training too. It’s hard to go on a 3 hour ride during the day when you have to be in a meeting or work. 🙂

I feel both ready and not ready. Last year was the fear of the unknown, this year, it’s the fear of not improving over last year. I seem to be mentally putting more “pressure” on myself this year. That’s the I am not ready part. I wish I had two more months. Oh well! Time to pay the piper. As I’ve been tapering, my body is tired. Other than a swim on Tuesday morning, I am taking it easy. I need to rest, I can feel it.

I officially have butterflies. Again, I hear Andy’s voice in my head reminding me when the butterflies stop, it stops being fun! (Yes, Andy, you are the voice in my head, along with Nichole telling me to PUSH IT!) Come to mention it, there a several voices in my head, I might want to have that checked.

Some thoughts going into this race:

I am excited to be racing with so many friends. I never would have imagined I would have met some of the most amazing people in my life in the triathlon community. So grateful for the friendships I have developed by just “TRI”ing! Looking forward to meeting some of my “Betty” pals too.

Let’s GO DO THIS!!
